Maputo, Mozambique 3 – 4 May

This event was organized by Interpol (International Criminal Police Organization) and SERNIC (National Service of Criminal Investigation) and Braz was represented by Sérgio Braz and Cláudia Mabone.  The main objective of the seminar was to empower the participants with knowledge on counterfeit.  The seminar was transformed into a training workshop, with practical questions related to evaluation, identification of genuine and counterfeit products, investigation and subsequent steps that ultimately lead to the destruction of counterfeit products.  Claudia Mabone made a presentation on the second day of the event. In a very comprehensive manner that captivated the audience.  She spoke of Baipa’s experience in combating counterfeiting and in collaboration with the authorities (INAE), highlighting the action last year that lead to the seizure and destruction of counterfeited tonners of the HP trademark. However, her main focus was related to the PUMA trademark, with emphasis on the difference between original and counterfeit products and how to easily identify the latter. She also addressed the legal treatment of counterfeiting within the scope of the Industrial Property Code.
